On the first day of classes for the 2022-23 academic year, the English Montreal School Board launched its new “Respect” campaign at a school assembly at Honoré Mercier Elementary School in St. Léonard.

EMSB Regional Director (East) Nathalie Lacroix unveiled the model of a  “Respect” banner that will appear at the entrance of each school building this year.

This campaign is intended to target all stakeholders – students, staff, parents and the community at large. As the  slogan emphasizes:  ‘Respect – We Choose It!  At the EMSB, we choose to act with humanity, respect and empathy for everyone! Join us in building a stronger community.”

EMSB  administrators,  special guests, students, staff and parents on hand at the assembly were all asked to give their opinion on why “Respect” is so important. A variety of special programming on this theme will be unveiled throughout the year.

Honoré-Mercier Principal Sonia Marotta and her staff embraced the theme, wearing t-shirts with different “Respect” slogans. There was also artwork and balloons expanding upon the theme as well.
