The Association of Directors General of English School Boards of Quebec (ADGESBQ), in collaboration with member boards and the Centre de services scolaire du Littoral, has embarked upon an ambitious project to define human resources needs clearly in order to implement a strategy to respond to those needs and to address the shortage of teachers, more specifically, French teachers.

A new streamlined information portal has been launched, offering a centralized location for candidates to learn more about the regions and school boards, search for and apply for career opportunities and student internships, access resources, salary data, upcoming career fairs and events and the latest announcements.

“There are many wonderful opportunities for employment in the English public education system,” said the ADGESBQ President, Sylvain Racette. “This one-stop option will benefit the candidates and the member boards. We strive to offer an inclusive environment of respect, equity and positive recognition of differences. Support staff, teachers, professionals, senior staff, and senior executives alike are invited to visit this website to learn more about the exciting career opportunities and the diverse geographic and cultural regions the Quebec English School Boards and the Centre de services scolaire du Littoral have to offer.”

This project has received federal funding from the Official Languages Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage through to March 2023.

The new website can be found at https://www.quebeceducationcareers.ca

About the Québec English School Boards

The Québec English School Boards are comprised of nine English public-school boards (Central Quebec School Board, Eastern Shores School Board, Eastern Townships School Board, English Montreal School Board, Lester B. Pearson School Board, New Frontiers School Board, Riverside School Board, Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board and Western Québec School Board) and one with special status (Centre de services scolaire du Littoral).

The school boards and the Centre de services scolaire du Littoral consist of approximately 340 schools and centres, some with student enrolments ranging from less than 100 to as many as 2,000, serving over 100,000 students in the Quebec English public school system. Each board is unique in terms of territory covered, demography of the population it serves, board orientations, and history. All share an English-Québec sensibility to delivering public education services, with equal regard for all creeds, religions, or cultures. The boards have an impressive student graduation rate of nearly 90 percent, built on a collaborative and inclusive model and offer French Second Language, Core, Bilingual, and French Immersion programs.
