EMSB chosen to launch 2027 Hooked on School Week
Réseau réussite Montréal (RRM) launched Hooked on School Week on Monday, February 16, at Montreal City Hall, marking the beginning of a week dedicated to promoting student engagement, perseverance, and the importance of education.
This year’s theme, « La persévérance, ça mène loin », underscores the long-term impact of staying engaged and supported throughout one’s educational journey.
The launch event welcomed Grade 6 students from the English Montreal School Board’s Dunrae Gardens Elementary, accompanied by their teacher Flora Boisteau, and Principal Holly Kusiewicz. The students were invited not only to represent student voices, but also to officially announce that the EMSB will host the prestigious Hooked on School Week launch event next year. This highlights the EMSB’s ongoing commitment to student success, academic perseverance, and meaningful community engagement.
This event was further distinguished by the presence of the Mayor of Montreal, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, whose participation reinforced the city’s commitment to education and youth development. The mayor joined RRM representatives, educators, students, and community partners in recognizing the collective efforts required to support students throughout their educational journey.
In addition to highlighting the essential role of schools and educators, the launch acknowledged the vital contribution of community organizations that work alongside school boards to promote student perseverance and achievement.
Together, the presence of students, educators, community organizations, and municipal leadership reflected a shared commitment to ensuring that every student feels supported, motivated, and encouraged to persevere — because perseverance truly leads far.
